Young Ash, the leader of a New York gang, encounters a dying man in a back alley who passes him an address and mumbles the words Banana Fish.

Gang member Skip and budding reporter Eiji are kidnapped by Arthur. Ash goes to help, but things escalate when he's caught trying to rescue them.

An attack in prison leads Ash to discover that cellmate Max, a former journalist, has investigated Banana Fish. He later gets a message out to Eiji.

Arthur confronts Eiji, who is researching the secret substance. But their encounter is cut short when Griffin’s sudden appearance sparks a gunfight.

Out on bail, Ash is determined to avenge Griffin's death. He tries to head out alone but Eiji, feeling partly responsible, insists he goes with him.

Ash’s group makes a revealing discovery about Banana Fish and the address handed to him when they look through information left behind by Griffin.

After shaking off Golzine's men, Ash and his group eventually make their way to the address in Los Angeles. They arrive to the sound of screaming.

The group splits up when Ash joins Max in rescuing his ex-wife and child. While they're away, Yut-Lung forces Shorter to help him kidnap Eiji.

Taken prisoner at Golzine’s mansion, Shorter and Eiji come face to face with the Banana Fish creator -- who is eager to start an experiment.

Ash is freed by Yut-Lung and regathers his group as allies arrive. After locating Eiji, Ash deals with Shorter's corpse and the twisted Abraham.

Ash returns to Manhattan after wrecking Golzine’s mansion. There, he and Eiji start a new venture to disrupt their already weakened adversary.

Arthur is feeling the heat as Ash steadily takes out gangs once loyal to Golzine. Meanwhile, Ash makes preparations for Eiji’s return to Japan.

Eiji wakes to discover that not only has Ash left to face Arthur in a fight to the death, he’s also arranged for him to be escorted to the airport.

Ash is in hospital badly injured, and Eiji is left to ponder the meaning behind his words while locked up with other gang members.

Eiji doesn't believe reports of Ash's death and manages to escape from captivity. Meanwhile, Max witnesses an autopsy he believes to be staged.

With help from Max and Ibe, Ash narrowly escapes the mental health facility with a catatonic Dawson. Finally free, he goes in search of Eiji.

Sing proposes a pact after realizing why Ash had to kill Shorter, but Ash refuses. Meanwhile, Yut-Lung is actively forming an alliance of his own.

Ash is faced with a tough choice when Eiji is shot in the arm and he finally figures out who's on his tail. He has 48 hours to fulfill an ultimatum.

Things go awry for Ash when he's forced to act on behalf of Golzine, who holds all the cards. Meanwhile, Eiji plans a rescue with Sing and Cain.

Eiji’s group successfully rescues Ash, but other gang members are captured in the process. Ash and his allies must negotiate a trade-off.

Wounded, Sing returns to hear that Yut-Lang is still holding his crew hostage. Ash and Cain go to rescue them, but they find it suspiciously easy.

Now captive, Max and the others are taken to the mental health facility. Eiji and the Chinese crew go to rescue Ash, but divisions start to appear.

Eiji is in hospital but Ash can't reach him. Later, the media gets hold of Max's investigation, and Ash’s attempt at a hostage swap doesn’t end well.

Preparing to return home with Ibe, Eiji leaves a heartfelt letter behind for Ash. Meanwhile, the unforgiving Lao hopes to finally get his revenge.
