Inspiré du livre du même nom écrit par Jung Eun Gwol (qui est également l'auteur des livres ayant inspiré le drama "Sungkyunkwan Scandal"). Le soleil représente le destin d'un roi. Bien que leur amitié soit solide et que Yang Myeong Gun ne convoite pas le trône, ce dernier est obligé de vivre à l'extérieur du palais. Tous deux sont sous le charme d'une jeune fille noble, Heo Yeon Wu. Après s'être fait remarquer pour son intelligence, Yeon Wu deviendra la princesse héritière, fiancée à Lee Hwon. Leur mariage n’est toutefois toujours pas consommé et la santé du roi est incertaine. Yeon Wu, que tous croient morte, réapparait alors au palais en tant que shaman. Weol is sentenced to exile, while Hweon loses his leadership to bureaucrats. He visits Weol in jail and, hiding his heart, commands her to leave him.
Yeon Woo asks Seol about the situation when she was blessed to become a shaman. Woon dismisses the army keeping Yang Myung at his house.
After meeting shaman Weol, Bo Kyung becomes terrified thinking that Yeon Woo has been resurrected. Later, some news from her past shocks Yeon Woo.
