Plot Summary

Buster Moon, a koala, has always had a passion for show business. He owns a theater that has seen better days, and he is struggling to keep it afloat. In a last-ditch effort to save his theater, he decides to hold a singing competition, offering a prize of $100,000 to the winner.

As the auditions begin, Buster meets a variety of animal contestants, including Rosita, a pig who dreams of being a singer and dancer; Johnny, a gorilla who wants to break away from his family's life of crime; and Meena, an elephant with a beautiful voice but crippling stage fright. As the competition heats up, the contestants must face their fears and overcome obstacles to chase their dreams.

Meanwhile, Buster faces his own challenges, including a lack of funds, mounting debts, and a pushy bank representative who is threatening to foreclose on his theater. Can Buster and the contestants put on a show that will save the theater and change their lives forever?

Production and Response

Sing was directed by Garth Jennings and written by Jennings and co-director Christophe Lourdelet. The movie features an impressive voice cast, including Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, Reese Witherspoon as Rosita, and Scarlett Johansson as Ash. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, with many praising its catchy soundtrack and lovable characters.

One interesting aspect of Sing's production is the fact that the entire movie was animated using computer-generated imagery (CGI). This allowed the filmmakers to create a world filled with anthropomorphic animals that look and move like real animals, while still being able to give them human-like expressions and emotions.

Since its release in 2016, Sing has become a beloved family favorite and has inspired a sequel, which is set to be released in 2021. With its uplifting message and infectious songs, it's no wonder that Sing has captured the hearts of audiences around the world.
