Even though Jung Guk proposes to his girlfriend after a successful con, he is dumped by her. On the other hand, Mi Young dumps his boyfriend for cheating on her. The two are saddened by their breakups and heads over to a club. The two get to know each other over a drink and starts dating. They are madly in love with each other, and without knowing each other's jobs, they get married.

After accidentally beating up a passer-by who happens to be a vicious serial killer, Jung Gook becomes a national sensation. Whenever people see Jung Gook, they flock over to him and ask him to take a picture together. Since people are always around him, Hoo Ja withdraws from killing Jung Gook for now and focuses on winning over assemblymen to help her business.
While heading home after a heated conversation with Mi Young, Jung Gook is abducted by Hoo Ja’s henchmen. Hoo Ja offers to spare him if he promises to work for her and become an assemblyman. Jung Gook refuses her offer, but she makes a threat he can’t overlook.

Jung Gook submits his application to run for the Assembly and makes a public announcement of his plan. He is now against two other candidates that are affiliated with political parties. While the other candidates have a professional team that helps them, Jung Gook doesn't have much to work with.
As the only one on Jung Gook's team with any political experience, Joo Myung tells Jung Gook should stick to his forte to win the election. The other candidates' strategies have flaws, Jung Gook plans to use sweet talk to appeal to the public and win the public over. Meanwhile, the Baekkyung Capital will be going through some family power struggle after the eldest daughter is released from jail.

To get more exposure and votes, the top two candidates and Jung Gook are to go on a televised debate. Jung Gook is given a script by Joo Myung to follow but is struggling to say something he doesn't believe. Meanwhile, Mi Young plans to apprehend Hoo Ja but is told to hold off for the time being.
Right before the debate goes on air, Jung Gook finds out about Joo Myung's complaint filed against Mi Young. Jung Gook is angered by this and decides to go off script. During the debate, he speaks from the heart and even goes against his campaign pledges.
Mi Young arrests Hoo Ja and his subordinates, but it turns out Hoo Ja tricked the police. For arresting someone without evidence, Hoo Ja is released immediately. Meanwhile, Jung Gook feels betrayed and frustrated by Sang Jin's change of words. Out of frustration, Jung Gook blurts out something he shouldn't.
The debate is over, and the candidates are back to the streets to earn more votes. Hoo Ja, however, is displeased by Jung Gook for going against the script and apprehends him. If Jung Gook's ratings drop, Hoo Ja will kill Jung Gook. Meanwhile, Mi Young is forced to take a leave of absence.
Joo Myung gathers his campaign team and directs them on a blank whiteboard, telling them that this is their strategy. With that, Mi Young who has decided to help out and the rest head out to win the hearts of the public. Meanwhile, Hoo Ja appears at Han Sang Jin's office to make a deal with him putting him in a tight spot.
Mi Young apprehends a pick pocketer in a square while giving a speech. But when her mother sees her on the news, she recognises her father-in-law and calls Mi Young to ask about him. For acting bravely and for stopping crime, her action gives Jung Gook some much needed attention from the people. However, this puts pressure on Sang Jin, giving him only one option to take the lead, which is to meet with Hoo Ja.
After Jung Gook's rising ratings, Hoo Ja makes an offer to Sang Jin. As Sang Jin isn't overwhelming the other candidates, he is reluctant but takes Hoo Ja's offer. In the process, Hoo Ja tells Jung Gook to announce his support for Sang Jin and to withdraw from the election.
Hoo Ja threatens to reveal his secret to Mi Young as Jung Gook refuses to drop out of the election. He wants to keep his promise to the people and be a useful person to the residents of Seowon. But as he wishes to save his marriage, he holds a press conference.
As Candidate Kang Soo Il withdraws from the election and announces his support for Jung Gook, Jung Gook is in the lead. Sang Jin is desperate and asks Hoo Ja to make Jung Gook withdraw, but she no longer wishes to help either one. As he is given no choice, he plans to expose Jung Gook's secret to the public and Mi Young.
Jung Gook does not cave into Sang Jin threat. Regardless of Jung Gook's decision, Sang Jin is holding a press conference to expose Jung Gook. The day after is Election Day, and Jung Gook's fate will be decided by the result.
Jung Gook beats Sang Jin in the election and becomes an assemblyman. After receiving his badge, Hoo Ja calls Jung Gook into her office to chat. Hoo Ja tells Jung Gook something that he had never expected from her.
As drafting a bill isn't coming along and the other assemblymen aren't helping out, Jung Gook is doing nothing as Hoo Ja ordered. However, a group of people comes into Jung Gook's office. They claim they got scammed and asks for his help. To be the useful person Jung Gook promised to be, he steps up and decides to help them.
As Jung Gook messed up Hoo Ja's plan by getting rid of six assemblymen, Hoo Ja comes up with another plan. She plans to pressure the opposition by criticizing the opposing party's minister candidate and make them compromise. However, Jung Gook and his team are having trouble finding good information.
After all the hard work Jung Gook and his team did, Hoo Ja tells him to stay down. The two parties have compromised, and Hoo Ja orders Jung Gook to not attend the hearing. Meanwhile, Mi Young is trying to apprehend Hoo Ja by getting at Pil Joo.
After Jung Gook's harsh criticisms, Chae Jin steps down which ruins the plan Hoo Ja had in mind. Even though both parties aren't willing to negotiate, Assemblyman Kim Nam Hwa works up another plan to call a general meeting. Jung Gook, however, doesn't plan to sit around when the assemblymen are making a dirty deal.
As Hoo Ja gets a sense of danger, she plans to bribe another officer to get information on what Mi Young's team is planning. The officer who took Hoo Ja's bribe feels guilt and asks Jung Gook for help. Meanwhile, Hoo Ja's sister is trying to kick Hoo Ja out of the company and take it over.
Even though Hoo Ja prepared, she gets detained due to Jung Gook's con. With the devious loan shark out of the way, Jung Gook wants to perform the duties of a right assemblyman. He asks Joo Myung for help and attempts to befriend other assemblymen to get support.
As Jung Gook failed to befriend other assemblymen that can help him, he changes his plan. He decides to go after Assemblyman Kim Nam Hwa by finding any dirty deeds he has committed. Jung Gook asks someone special to dig into Nam Hwa's secrets as Nam Hwa hates Jung Gook. Nam Hwa, however, isn't going down without a fight.
With Joo Myung's confession, Assemblyman Kim Nam Hwa has lost influence over other assemblymen. Other Nationalist assemblymen are now free to vote on the repeal of Interest Rate Regulation Act. Both major parties, however, still refuse to hold a general meeting. Jung Gook plans to get both party representatives to come to an agreement and hold a general meeting.
Hoo Ja and her sisters manage to get some of the assemblymen to walk out of the general meeting and stop the vote on repeal of Interest Rate Regulation Act. With one problem put on hold, Hoo Ja now deals with Baekkyung Capital’s board meeting. Jin Hee is sweet talking and bribing the board members to make them vote for her at the board meeting. Meanwhile, Assemblyman Kim Nam Hwa receives a file on Jung Gook and holds a press conference.
Jung Gook holds a press conference of his own after Nam Hwa accuses Jung Gook of being a con artist. At the press conference, he reveals that he is, in fact, a con artist and announces he will turn himself in. Mi Young is devastated by her husband's secret and gets swarmed by journalists. As she didn't know her husband's crimes and identity, she plans to resign.
After Jung Gook's press conference, assemblymen that supported him are now turning their back against him. Despite losing support and potential indictment, he plans to stop the repeal of Interest Rate Regulation Act and put Hoo Ja behind bars. First, Jung Gook needs Mi Young and her team to freeze Hoo Ja's bank accounts.
