The Plot of Ted 2

"Ted 2" is a 2015 American satirical comedy film and sequel to the 2012 film "Ted." The movie follows the story of Ted, a talking teddy bear, and his best friend John as they navigate Ted's fight for civil rights. After Ted marries his girlfriend Tami-Lynn, the couple decides to have a child but are unable to conceive due to Tami-Lynn's history of drug use. The couple decides to adopt, but this leads to a challenge to Ted's legal status as a person, rather than property.

Ted is fired from his job at a grocery store, and his marriage to Tami-Lynn is annulled. John suggests taking the state to court, and they hire a novice lawyer, Samantha Jackson, to represent Ted. The trio bond over their love of marijuana as they prepare to present the case, but they face opposition from Donny, Ted's life-long stalker, who is a janitor at toy company Hasbro. Donny convinces the company CEO to hire an expert attorney to ensure that Ted maintains his status as property.

Despite their efforts, the court rules against Ted, and he becomes disheartened and desperate. The trio contacts Patrick Meighan, a highly respected civil rights attorney, to help overturn the court's decision. Meighan initially refuses the case, but eventually takes it on, inspired by John's selflessness and Ted's emotions over John. Meighan successfully gets the ruling overturned by demonstrating that Ted is self-aware, feels complex emotions, and is capable of empathy. The movie ends on a happy note, with Ted re-proposing to Tami-Lynn, and the couple adopting a baby boy.

The Making of "Ted 2"

"Ted 2" was directed by Seth MacFarlane, who also co-wrote the script along with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. The film is the second installment in the "Ted" franchise and serves as a sequel to the 2012 hit movie of the same name. The movie stars Mark Wahlberg, Seth MacFarlane, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Jessica Barth, John Slattery, and Morgan Freeman.

The movie was shot in Massachusetts, where principal photography began in July 2014. The filming process took place over a period of four months and ended in November of the same year. The storyline for the movie was initially centered around John and Ted's attempt to smuggle pot across the country, but it was eventually scrapped due to concerns that the concept was too similar to the recently released movie "We're the Millers." The writers then decided to overhaul the storyline and base it on John Jakes' North and South series as well as the life of Dred Scott.

"Ted 2" received mixed reviews from critics upon its release, but it still became a box office success, grossing $215.9 million on a $68 million budget. Despite not achieving the same level of critical and commercial success as its predecessor, the movie still managed to entertain audiences and provide plenty of laughs, thanks to the witty banter and crude humor that Seth MacFarlane is known for.

Overall, "Ted 2" is a testament to the creative talents of its writers and the comedic timing of its cast. It's a hilarious movie that manages to push the boundaries of good taste while still remaining entertaining and engaging for audiences of all ages.

Ted 2: A Bear-y Disappointing Sequel

As a fan of the original "Ted" movie, I was excited to see the sequel. However, "Ted 2" fell short of my expectations. While it had its funny moments, the overall plot felt disjointed and lacked the charm and heart of the first movie.

One of the biggest issues with the movie was its attempt to tackle serious issues such as civil rights and fertility struggles while still maintaining its crude humor. While it's not impossible to balance serious topics and humor, "Ted 2" failed to do so in a cohesive and effective way.

Another problem was the lack of character development. While we already know and love Ted and John from the first movie, the new characters introduced in "Ted 2" felt underdeveloped and one-dimensional. Amanda Seyfried's character, Samantha Jackson, was particularly disappointing as her lack of knowledge about pop culture felt forced and unrealistic.

Despite its flaws, "Ted 2" still managed to make a decent profit at the box office, but its critical reception was mixed. While some critics praised its humor and performances, others criticized its disjointed plot and lack of originality. In my opinion, "Ted 2" is a bear-y disappointing sequel that fails to capture the same magic as the first movie.
