Geostorm Plot Summary

In the near future, after a series of catastrophic natural disasters, an international coalition commissions the construction of a system of climate-controlling satellites called "Dutch Boy". The satellites are designed to neutralize extreme weather events and keep the planet safe. After successfully stopping a typhoon in Shanghai, chief architect Jake Lawson is reprimanded by a US Senate subcommittee for bringing Dutch Boy online without authorization, and he is replaced by his younger brother Max.

Three years later, a UN team stationed in the Registan Desert discovers a frozen village, and an Indian engineer working on the International Climate Space Station (ICSS) copies data from the satellite responsible for Afghanistan onto a hard drive before he is killed in a supposed accident.
