Naraku's barrier weakens mysteriously, allowing Inuyasha and Koga to hunt him. Koga finds Kagura first, leaving her in a dilemma.

Sesshomaru refuses Kagura's request to kill Naraku. As Inuyasha and his friends search for Kagura, Koga confronts her to regain his jewel shards.

Shippo receives a letter from Soten Raiyu, a child and the last surviving member of the thunder demon tribe. Soten wants to challenge him to a fight.

Having abducted Rin, Naraku gives Sesshomaru an ultimatum: kill Inuyasha, or he'll kill Rin. But Sesshomaru refuses his offer.

With the barrier destroyed, Inuyasha and Bankotsu resume their battle, and Inuyasha is angered that Bankotsu gets Kagome and the others involved.

Outside the Mt. Hakurei barrier, Renkotsu and Ginkotsu attack Koga. Inside the barrier, Sango and Miroku scout the lay of the land.

Naraku tries to absorb Sesshomaru to gain the powers of a complete demon, but Inuyasha arrives and rescues him. They turn to fight Naraku together.

Inuyasha, Miroku and Sango investigate Naraku's castle. Meanwhile, Kagome returns to the present day to study for a mock exam in two days.

Kikyo's path crosses with that of Bankotsu, who claims he has no fears about the afterlife. Meanwhile, Jaken and Rin meet Suikotsu on a log bridge.

Suikotsu is unable to kill the village orphans. Sesshomaru is lured within the barrier of Mt. Hakurei, where Suikotsu and Jakotsu confront him.

Renkotsu vows to avenge Ginkotsu's death using his Shikon Jewel shard. Determined to attack Koga, he heads to a cave near a waterfall.

When they reach the summit of Mt. Hakurei, Kagura attacks Miroku and Sango, who risks his life in the fight by opening his Wind Tunnel.

Miroku and Sango come face to face with the Saint Hakushin's mummy on Mt. Hakurei. Meanwhile, Inuyasha evades Renkotsu only to run into Jakotsu.

Inuyasha defeats Jakotsu at last with his Tetsusaiga and hurries to Mt. Hakurei. Meanwhile, Kikyo questions Saint Hakushin about his desires.

Mt. Hakurei's barrier dissolves and Kagome heads there with Koga and the others. Meanwhile, Inuyasha confronts Bankotsu for the final time.

As Inuyasha and Bankotsu battle, Miroku and Sango see a mysterious sight inside the mountain. Sesshomaru and Kikyo sense the strange events from afar.

Naraku gains a new body and is reborn, gathering the Shikon Jewel shards to himself. Inuyasha attacks with the Wind Scar, but to no avail.

With Mt. Hakurei collapsing, Inuyasha goes after Koga while the others try to escape. Meanwhile, Naraku pursues and confronts Kikyo.

Inuyasha leaves his friends behind to search for Kikyo while Kagome and the others arrive at Shintaro's village. There they meet an elderly priest.

Shippo tells Inuyasha that the rest of the group has been captured. Meanwhile the Infant orders Kagura to place a corrupted jewel shard inside Kagome.

Kagome returns to the present, where her school is in the midst of preparations for its festival. In the past, Naraku has all but one jewel shard.
