On his way home from the store, a boy named Subaru is suddenly and inexplicably transported to another world. As he’s beaten by thugs, a girl appears.

Though he should have died 3 times, Subaru finds himself back where he started. He realizes he rewinds time when he dies. He sets out for Timeline #4.

As Subaru bargains with Felt to buy the insignia from her, Elsa attacks. Puck fights on Subaru’s side, but suddenly vanishes, leaving Subaru in a jam.

Subaru is heavily wounded fighting Elsa, but somehow survives and goes to Lugnica. He learns Emilia’s insignia makes her eligible to rule the kingdom.

Subaru makes a date with Emilia, but dies before the promised day and goes back in time. To keep his promise, he works to retrace the prior timeline.

Subaru has been killed twice at Roswaal’s mansion. To determine who kills him, he leaves the mansion the night he is to die to observe from outside.

Subaru is greeted by someone unexpected. He’s killed again and returns to Day 1 of Timeline #4 at the mansion. This time he survives the fourth night.

Now on Day 5, Subaru endeavors to gain the trust of those at the mansion, taxing his mind and body. Aghast to see him this way, Emilia makes him rest.

Subaru is so sure he was cursed by someone in the village that he gets cursed again to try to find out who, but then realizes he has the wrong idea.

Subaru is hit with multiple curses. Unable to lift them all, he starts to give up, but when he learns Rem has gone to the woods alone, he follows her.

Rem awakens from her dream and confesses her misdeed to Subaru. Desperate to save Rem and Ram, Subaru poses as a decoy to help them escape.

Subaru accompanies Emilia when she is suddenly summoned to the capital. With all of the candidates now assembled, the royal election begins at last.

Reinhard brings Felt to the gathering of royal election candidates, introducing her as the fifth candidate, but she refuses to participate.

Subaru is distraught when Emilia rebuffs his wish to protect her. But upon learning of unrest in Roswaal’s domain, he goes to her anyway.

At Roswaal’s mansion, Subaru is greeted by a shocking scene. In despair, he faints. When he comes to, he is in front of the fruit merchant in Lugnica.

Now back at the fruit merchant, no one will help Subaru. He heads to Roswaal’s mansion with Rem to at least get Emilia to safety while there’s time.

Subaru and crew are attacked by the White Whale. Rem leaves their carriage to go fight it. Subaru wants to go back to save her, but Otto refuses.

Dying in vain and having lost Rem and Emilia, Subaru realizes he is powerless. But as if filled with purpose, he grabs Rem’s hand and sprints off.

Subaru offers to tell Crusch when and where the White Whale will appear if she allies with him. As doing so would sway the royal election, she frets.

Giving it all he has got, Subaru succeeds in winning Crusch’s friendship. With Anastasia’s cooperation they now stand ready to battle the White Whale.

The fight against the White Whale takes an unimaginable turn. As an awful sight scares everyone witless and all hope seems lost, Subaru’s voice booms!

After fighting the White Whale, Subaru’s forces join up with the mercenaries and head to the woods in the Mathers domain, to find the Witch’s Cult.

Subaru’s forces head to Roswaal’s mansion to evacuate the villagers. Suddenly, everyone but Subaru vanishes. He then spots a curious blue flower.

Emilia tries to alert the villagers to danger, but she’s ignored. As she frets over what to do, she is greeted by Wilhelm, acting on behalf of Crusch.

Betelgeuse’s relentless attack initially keeps Subaru and Julius on the defensive. Though utterly bruised and battered, they gradually turn the tide.
